Chapter President’s Message

Welcome to a virtual tour of the Rockville Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America; 52 acres of woods, nature trails, shooting ranges and a small lake in the midst of urban sprawl.

When I welcome new members to our chapter, I stress the fact that they are joining one of the most active and involved chapters in the State, if not the nation. Numerous state and national awards over the years attest to our effectiveness in conservation activities, community service, youth programs and other areas.

This year, we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of our chapter. We are fortunate in that we have many chapter members that devote a substantial amount of their time and their expertise to our Chapter activities. It is worth noting that quite a few of our currently active members were here when we celebrated our 50th anniversary. We must be doing something right to keep that level of interest and participation.

Of particular note, our chapter has received frequent recognition for our outstanding youth activities. We focus much of our energy on our youth, since we know that these kids are our future. What we teach them today contributes to the leaders of tomorrow, grounded in the knowledge, the understanding, and the appreciation of the outdoors.
